I originally started dual booting but found it a pain, all I was doing in XP was play games rather than being productive; so I wiped the whole drive and installed 6.10, which became 7.04, 7.10 and now 8.04 :) The amount of time it's saved me in terms of fixing things.... it's well worth any issues I've had.

Every machine here trundled off and downloaded Firefox 3 :) About 5 machines in total.

Re: Why I use Linux

To be honest, the build quality of the laptop is fine. The end user didn't want Dell and needed the device NOW, so it was whatever the local branch of Novatech had in stock.

I'm not going to get in to a Chinese vs Malaysia argument other than to suggest that if the label on the thing says "Assembled in X" it's probably still got bits of it from China (Assembled in doesn't mean the same as Made in). Hell, even both of my ipods are stamped "Made in China".

Re: Why I use Linux

stylenote laptops are crap - never buy chinese

Re: Linux isn’t popular…

After several years dillying and dallying I've installed Ubuntu 8.04 allbeit dual boot with Vista. It was all the crap I was getting with Vista that made me do it. Now use Ubuntu 97% of the time. Haven't got the dual head graphics card working yet, but just give me time.

I love Ubuntu - it's quick.

So Linux isn't popular, eh? :)

P.S. Downloaded mine roundabout 28/04/08 - no problems. It was released on 24/04/08 wasn't it?

P.P.S. You downloading FF3 on 17/06/08? I'm trekking across Britain then so it'll have to wait 'til I get back.

Re: A Letter…

£200 per session for electrolysis?
